Trail Ride News 15th February 2019

DALBY MOTO TRAIL RIDE NEWS – GREENLANDS 23/24 FEBRUARY CANCELLED – BLOODY DROUGHTS.

Well Australia is a hard country, GREENLANDS HAS HAD TO BE CANCELLED DUE TO DROUGHT. Fires are burning in the Girraween State Forest not far from the Trail ride area, and apart from landowner concerns, the safety of riders cannot be guaranteed in the case of a fire breaking out while the ride is on. Droughts, Fires and Floods all at once in Australia and our area around Dalby and SE Qld is no exception with drought, so cheque books are shut, so if you’re in the market for a bike or anything motorcycle, remember us, as we would really appreciate a bit more business.

 IMPORTANT INFO RE COSTS BELOW.

AMA and MQ licencing and insurance for Trail Rides in 2019.

AMA means Australian Motorcycling Association. The AMA is starting to get a hold Australia wide on a lot of Motorcycling events for trail rides and competition events, and I believe so far for 2019 we have approximately 5 rides so far that are going to run with the AMA.

The long and short of it all is the fact that for 2018 $21 per rider goes to MQ for every trail ride, which is $15 for a one event licence and $6 levy for every rider, plus Dalby Moto gets $2 per rider for helping co-ordinate the rides, insurance, calendar and marketing with around 10,000 emails sent out at least 17 times a year, or more when cancellations or changes occur. For a ride with say 1000 riders $21000 goes to MQ.

AMA fees are $5 for the one event licence, or better still, $15 PER RIDER FOR ANNUAL AMA licence that covers all the trail rides for a year, OR $30 FOR AN ANNUAL FAMILY AMA LICENCE, this means, if you produce your AMA licence at an AMA event, you only pay the entry fee for the event and no licence fees.

Total fees for a committee under AMA are $2520, which is a far cry from $21 per rider per event.

I’m strongly recommending you go to the AMA Trail Rider Website, www.trailrider.asn.au to secure your annual Licence for either yourself or your family to save even more dollars when attending trail rides, especially the ones under AMA, and I believe that as the rides get going for 2019, that more committees will swing towards AMA.
